Blogging is like going to the dentist. At least for me it is.

It's like, you put it off for the longest time, and keep making empty promises to yourself to go, and when you eventually do go, you finish feeling so darn good about yourself and your teeth.

SO.

About my blogging, sorry for the mini hiatus. I have been really busy. I've had appointments and work swamped up to my neck I don't have time for my special people and many other things that need to be done but haven't been done. Like going to the dentist for one. haha

So, one might ask, what the hell have you been up to? You only do nails dammit.

Well yea, i do nails, gorgeous ones i might add, but most recently, I've had the most awesome inspiration to do something even better with my current nail business. As you know, Ive always been working alone, teetering in and out of different locations to the point that I'm sick of packing my nail polish into paper boxes and unpacking them onto the shelves. Well, that you can only blame on ruthless shark-like land lords who want a piece of you seeing that you do a little better than the rest of the tenants, or just plain hard to reach/find locations like club street. Well don't hate me, hate the game!

I have decided that I'm taking Petit Nail House in a slightly different direction. I have never been one to conform to the regular massmarket/homebased nail salons. In fact I'd proudly say I was a pioneer in my field of introducing affordable nail enhancements and extraordinary nail art, waaaaaaay before acrylic nails became more popular than stick-ons and definitely WAAAAAAY before nail blogs and home-based nail salons popped up like beansprouts all over the place and suddenly everyone claims to be nail experts/queens etc. I'm happy to have been the one who stuck the flag in the soil first. I'm the coolest nail girl in town. :D

I guess I owe my constant longing for re-invention and foresight to my years of art education, my deep passion for coming up with new high street fashion design nails that I never dared to reveal until now. And PNH soon will no longer be known as PNH. I will reveal the plan and my new name in a few weeks so keep a lookout here!

A spanking brand new website is on it's way, and I promise it's more interactive, more fun, and waaaay easier for me to answer all your queries! I'm working closely with my web designer on a photo shoot for some awesome new company video and images! All the planning and all the work involved can you imagine?!

On top of that, I'll be holding several mini soft launches on this new branding of PNH at the end of this month, at several flea markets! So you can see our new logo, new direction, and the last but not least, new NAIL LOOKBOOK i'm working on! I will provide the details of these events in a few days and make sure you be there, because there'll be some sweet deals at the booth on our nail art!

Something nice and simple. :) A pale pink base with pretty white flowers.

I realize that after looking through my older pictures of my work from years ago, my art, my clients, have all matured together with me. Not so many of requests of kawaii-type art, the cutesy/sweet/cartoony art. These days i'm doing alot of 'toned down' cute work. Not that it's a bad thing.. We all have to grow up someday. This just shows we never grow out of nail art, we grow along with it!

I have just edited a bunch of photos. More to come soon. As for the hair tutorial, it will come :) I will collaborate with my dear friend karen (renzze.com) for this video. We just haven't found the time to do it.

There is actually a lot going on in my life right now. I shall not go into details so as to not bore you, what i can say is that I've embarked on a journey, one that is of high importance to me. A journey of self-discovery that doesn't involve buying pretty things or expensive bags. It is a path I've decided to hop back on after being distracted and thwarted from for so long. I think it is a journey we would all like to take, but social/external factors distract us from finding the most important thing.

Our peace.

Many of us spend too much time on issues that cannot be solved by plain worrying and much over thinking, on pleasing the people who aren't important to us or to our growth, on frivolous material things. Hey that sounds familiar eh? Sure sounds a lot like me that's for sure. There is much around me to be appreciated, yet I've taken it for granted and treated it with benign neglect.

It is time to to take these much deserved to be appreciated 'things' in my life, gather them together, account for all of them and start this process of loving them.

Okay this seems like a rather strange place to be voicing my thoughts on love and life. haha. Rather random i know. I usually write them down in my journal. Just decided to share a few words here.

Airbrush lace on clear tip!

This was a sample of 1 nail i did just to test the result of airbrush inlays. Turned out pretty nice eh?
I used a clear acrylic base, and black paint for the lace pattern. Added some crsytals. :)

I like the funky result.

Panda set of nails. Done sometime ago, inspired by some magazine.

Wahaha. So cute. Polka dotted black and white to match the panda heads, with a mini lace pattern near the base with crystals, not forgetting the pink ribbons. Panda heads made from acrylic and details are painted on.

Yawwn. Very sleepy. Nail guru is in hibernation mode.

Happy Lunar New Year!!!
Sorry for the hiatus! I'm not too late i hope! Chinese new year has 15 days anyway right? Hee hee.

I was crazy busy with appointments, with no time to eat, pee, poop or sleep. Now that it has slowed down slightly, can blog again.

I have loads of pics of my work from the cny season, none of them red nor festive. hahaha. But exciting I assure you. Please be patient while i edit them and work on the hair tutorial i promised you guy's i'll do. I can't decide if you guys would prefer a pictorial one or a video type tutorial. Help me with that please?

Anyways this will be a quick one.

Two sets done some time ago. Done on different people with different colored flowers. I started a clear tip base, and worked on multi soft colored petunias to be embedded.

Hi all!
For the record, the photo of the curly hair i posted earlier isn't mine! Haha I was just trying to illustrate the type of hair I'd love to have. Unfortunately my hair isn't that shade of brown and isn't that long. I still have to be patient. :)

But here are some photos of my self-curled hair using an extra large 40mm curling tong. Effect was large loose curls and I pinned my growing fringe to the side. I like this effect as it isn't too tai tai (you know the uber well-defined curls in dollops), and too tight. Great to wear from day to night!

I had this slice of strawberry shortcake for tea some days ago. Was super craving for SS so bought it from four leaves in bugis junction. Doesn't taste as good as it looks.

The SS from Rive Gauche in takashimaya and suntec city still totally rocks my world.

I have a hidden talent. I can curl the hell out of my own hair. Tight carrie bradshaw curls, big loose waves, loose curl pin-ups. You name it, I can do it. I think its from the years of being fascinated with curly hair since my natural hair is reed straight. I have even discovered the perfect product to kick the humidity out of your curls and keep them nice and tight. I might do a hair curling tutorial once i squeeze in a bit of time. THAT IS, if anyone's interested. :)

So, I can do nails. AND style the hell out of your hair :D

I know its a day late. But. WHATEVER. HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!! HAPPY 2010!!!!

I've just been waaaaay too busy to pay attention to my web space. I've been so busy with appointments, the festive season is here, my boyfriend's family is here so i've had to take them around, and of course also juggling with the shop move again!

I've not found a suitable shop space for myself so I'm still with Jeric Salon. They have since closed the Central @ Clarkequay outlet and moved it to the Bugis Junction branch. So i'm now located at bugis junction on the 2nd floor Jeric salon. So please, appointments after 1st jan head to bugis!!!

I'm relocating back to Bugis junction (Jeric Salon @ Clarke quay is closing off and combining with the Bugis branch yay!)

Most forms of payments are accepted. Cash, Nets, All major credit cards.

Please do be thoughtful and considerate while making your CNY appointments. If you have secured an appointment, PLEASE turn up for it, or if you can't make it, do inform at least 2 weeks in advance. I go on a basic trust system here so I do not require any deposits of any sort for the appointments but please do make sure you turn up or inform beforehand to be fair to the others who need the appointment with me. OR be sure of the dates before you book the appointment.

Good Lord I haven't been blogging for 3 weeks now. Time just flies when you're buried up to your head with appointments and projects. Recently took up an advertising project, im not inclined to reveal anything about it just yet, but i bet it'd be pretty shocking once its out. heeheehee.

Anyway, tis' the season to be a bride!!! la la la la la! This month, I have been doing nails for more brides and bridesmaids and bridal related events than i can ever remember.

I can't possibly post EVERY SINGLE set of bridal nails for all to see as they are pretty repetitive I must admit. Bridal nails are usually in hues of pale pink, light cream, soft shimmer, light silver sparkles with pretty flowers embellished with shiny crystals. And usually very pretty too. I feel very satisfied when my bridal clients walk out of the salon with superb nails and the look on their faces, priceless.

I design every single set of bridal nail art according to my mood and inspiration. Every single set though with the same elements, are essentially different from one another. Much like fingerprints. I design based on the feeling I get from my client (complicated as it sounds, i use a lot of feelings when it comes to creating a 'once-in-a-lifetime' set of nails), her requests (she may want me to design something to go with her gowns) or in most cases, they just leave it in my good hands. And I truly appreciate that. It's amazing how they leave the state of their hands in my care for the most important day of their lives!

So far *crosses fingers* I've never met a bride unhappy in any way with their nails. They leave elated. I'm really pleased with that and here I'd like to thank you all for your appreciation of my work!

I picked one of my favourite sets out of all the bridal nail art I've done recently. This one I did with a sculptured french base, 8 petal flowers with dusty pink centres and of course the dazzling stuff. Effect was superb. I loved it.

On a more random note, I have been visiting beautiful sites and blogs on tumbler and been taking some really pretty photos off them to post here. So keep a lookout for that popping here and there every once in a while. Well they do say a picture speaks a thousand words right?

On another random note.

Did I tell you, I REALLY like my how my hair is now? It's a great job what my hairstylist at Jeric is doing for me. I used to wear lighter shades and had perms done some time back, but after time and my hair started to grow out, they started to get really damaged and now I'm just mostly trying to get back to the dark, strong healthy glossy look. So he gave my damaged, thinned down to the ends hair a blunt cut, so I can grow it out nicely, and of course a fringe for a change. And I absolutely love this new hair. It's so easy to maintain.

I have a pic of me now, albeit not very clear.

:D I'm glad I listened to you gals and didn't go ahead with perming my hair. If anyone is interested though, in my hairstylist, he is Japanese and his name is Tetsuya. Just call Jeric Salon @ Central Clarke Quay 6534 7701 and ask for him. Michelle the director of the salon is great too! I love how they don't enforce any services or products on you. Just recommend what's suitable for you. Like for eg, He told me not to perm my hair. haha.

Ribbon bon bons and rose nails!!!

Really cute set of nails! Crystals, little gold chains, hand made pink ribbons that look like bon bons, roses that look like icing on a cake!!!

The nails weren't very long, so made the nail art look cuter!

Alot of time and effort was spent on attaching these sparkly shiny things making sure they stay! =D

Last but not least....

My favourite!!! The ribbon bon bons (candies) Used custom mixed powder to create the ribbons. Then attached it together with crystals and roses. Cool.

I love the ribbons! Can't get over how pretty they are!!

Now I wanna get back to watching the top ten behind-the-scenes at the EMA awards.

And I'm eating an orange. Good for skin.

I have a major lemming.

For cruiser bikes. I first saw them in the Paul Frank store in Phuket and fell instantly in love with them. So chic, with a touch of vintage, and most importantly, it's totally practical and functional!

Just imagine cruising with one of these babies along the beach pavement with the wind in your hair, the sun on your face. Gives you nice legs too :D

Short Phuket post.

Phuket is amazing. It's a much quieter, more peaceful version of Bali.

The heartbeat of Phuket lies in Patong, where you find your ladyboys, caucasians looking out for local Thai chicks, the neon/flashing/spinning/blinking lights. Nowadays, it seems much more tame as compared to say, pre-tsunami years, i guess they tourism authority is trying to limit the night scene to just Patong so that the rest of Phuket can be enjoyed by families. I love that the people are alot more relaxed and as my italiano will go, 'they don't hustle so much here for my money!!!' Oh well, owe it to his bad experience at the Bali, Denpasar airport, where they tried to hustle him for generous coffee money. Serves him right for being ang-moh.

So anyway, here are a couple of pics.

This hotel is called Secret Cliff Hotel and it truly is on a cliff overlooking the sea with the waves crashing below us. Very cheap rates. A huge room with a huge balcony we paid only 50SGD? Go to Agoda.com for cheap hotel rates! The only gripe I have with the hotel room is the shower, which wasn't working very well, the hot water was intermittent and was dripping pathetically. Safe to say I took half a day to wash my hair each time.

Always found this sign amusing in a weird way. Reminds me of the horror, yet at the same time makes me think, if it comes, do you think you can out run the waves?

This photo looks kinda dreamy because I set it accidentally to a high ISO. Turned out looking pretty nice and dreamy anyway. I like it.

My very burnt legs. Would have loved to throw off those Havaianas and dug my feet in the sand, but I think I would suffer from 3rd degree burns.

Did this set for a regular of mine set to attend a wedding dinner. We were having a conversation about how her nails will probably end up out-shining the bride's. Which unfortunately, I heard it happens quite often.Oops. :X

So brides to be!! You know what to do eh?! Don't neglect your nails! Nails are just as important for your big day and a simple french manicure these days just won't suffice!

These are acrylic extensions with hand-folded white roses. Not forgetting the AB bling-fest.

I figured out how to round-cut the edges of my photos! YAY! I'm a late bloomer tho, learning these simple things at the pace of a snail. :(

I recently made a trip to Phuket, it was nothing short of lovely. Rented a scooter and scooted around to 4 or 5 beaches. Saw a Bob Marley pub along the way and got hyped up about it. Screeched to a halt to take a peek and tried to take photos of the signboard while walking backwards. And the inevitable had to happen. I fell into a manhole. Okay I didn't go INTO the manhole, my entire left leg went in and thank god i didn't drop my slipper. So anyways, I badly bruised my inner left knee and scraped the skin off my outer left calf. Bad. Really bad.

Will post pics when I get the pics from Italiano.

Oh yes, I'm actively looking for locations to move to. I'll have to admit the Jeric Salon move was a temporary move. At Holland village, my landlord was a shark! Threatening to raise my rental by a great deal, so I moved out! At club street, it was an utter pain for my clients to find the place and it was always excruciatingly hot, and made it difficult to work with my chemicals.

ARRGGGGGH!!!! Anyone who has moved anything, a room, a shop, a house, knows how moving is a PAIN IN THE BOTTOM!

A complilation of my top fifteen favourites (and of course most popular)!!!!

Okay, I spent some time looking at my nail work archives and picked fifteen (initially 10 but since i had too many, i had to raise it to 15) of my absolute favourites!! Some readers who are new to this blog might not have seen some of these works before (As i used to post on myspace.com) So here goes!!

No.1

I thought this set was very unique, I loved the ribbon and loved how had to figure out how to create it. The assorted flowers no less were really pretty and a pleasure to do.

If i had to name top ten most popular sets, this would definitely be the top of the list!!!
I remember doing this set when I came back from Japan with a whole bunch of loot to play with. Of course eventually i created this! All the BLING!

This was another really popular set, also another one of my favourites.
The handpainted black lace chevron background with embossed roses and of course pretty shiny embellishments.

No.4
This is a really pretty set, didn't put much embellishments but made the embossed flowers stand out on their own instead. I love the roses, mixed white and hot pink acrylic powder to achieve the shading on the flowers.

HAHA. How can anyone who has seen this EVER forget this set?!

Birthday cake for the birthday girl. Made the fruits, cake, chocolate from scratch. Believe it or not, she came back with the cake intact 3 weeks later.

Ahhhh. The cushion roses. I can't remember how I came up with the idea of making cushions from acrylic powder. I must have seen something that inspired me. Roses were stuck on, purchased ready made. The rest of the flowers and ribbons, cushions were all handmade.

This is a gorgeous, elegant set. Took a lot of time to do, but effort and time spent was well worth it.

This is a big favourite of mine!! I remember adjusting the colours on my airbrush to create the air-brushed rainbow tone on the background, creating the happy-faced sun, and the hibiscus flower up till today is one of my favourite flowers to do. I have created many variations of the hibiscus. :D

Who can forget the reign of the dougnuts and cupcake and eclairs?! wahahaha.

I just love this set to death. I always look at it and admire the roses, and the rose ribbon I created. I think I was a lot more creative in the past. Monotony has killed most of my brain cells.

The quintessential bridal set. French tips with floral blooms, crystal and pearl embellishments.

The crystal galore. Design was from the Nail Max X Pinky girls issue. I wore it for 2008 CNY. Rolled up acrylic roses, crystals, pearls, bullion beads, little satin ribbons. The design to date remains one of my most popular. And I have included the 'full' version on it below this 'french tip' version.

A pretty rose bloom inlay design. Rose blooms and leaves encapsulated with acrylic and gel top coat for added shine.

This was my own design, with my custom-mix of pink glitter powder. Roses were quite difficult to do as to achieve this look, I had to 'volumise' the roses which in turn makes it difficult to prevent a thick acrylic nail.

A really pretty look overall. Again, great for people who aren't used to the pop-up sort of nail art. Or those who can't have them for work. Easily covered up with a layer of polish.

As promised, here are some pictures of my solo pilgrimage to bali, met up with friends, made new friends. Had a really good time.

Kuta Beach

Trust me, totally regretted taking off my helmet. Was totally enjoying the sun and the breeze until we reached dreamland and I had to detangle my hair. Not fun I tell you.

Dreamland is a beautiful white sand beach that used to be a much longer stretch until commercialization came in to ruin it with a resort. Now its much smaller than it used to be, hawkers and peddlers on the beach no less, but still beautiful in my opinion nonetheless. :)

Pro surfer waves. You can bet i wasn't involved with those waves. I TRIED to 'swim' or 'waddle' around in the water but all I got was knocked over by the strong current even though it was extremely shallow, and yes a full pouch of sand in my bikini. I was a walking sandbag.

I have an unbreakable bond with my muw here. We both survived a fire that broke out on my hostel toilet and we both could have perished in the toxic fumes. I didn't take any photos of the ruins as both of us were in complete shock. Imagine two girls sleeping soundly and waking up to find ourselves smothered by a thick blanket of smoke. She heroically put the fire out and here we are standing alive and well today.

The process of creating lovely inlay nails.

I took the time to take some photos while in the process of creating inlay nails for my client. I did it since many people inquire about inlays and are never too sure what exactly they are. Basically it's acrylic extensions with encapsulated nail art within (be it glitter or emboss art). Essentially the art is done 'within' the nail instead of you being able to feel it on the surface of your nails. Great for people who aren't used to having stuff on top of their nails, or people who can't have too much art on their nails due to work (stewardesses etc). It's not easy since i had to do a step and stop to take a photo. Here goes anyway..

Done! Voila! Beautifully polished with a layer of gel topcoat. Extremely durable and you can paint a coat of polish over and remove as and when you like it.

Check out cute roses I've done on this half-black, half-pink stripey, glittery, sequinned background! For the first time, the background took a longer time to do than the roses. haha. enjoy!

I've been so busy this month! Is it because the 7 month ghost festival is over and now everybody is getting married/has a wedding to attend/has a wedding photoshoot. After the ghoul-y festivities, its celebration for the humans. hehehe.

I've also been getting myself obsessed with all things fafi. I love the idea of carmine vault. So quirky, and I've copy-drawing her fafinettes too! Will post some pics of them up here. Something random, I love the smell of colour pencils. The fresh, woody scent that is released when i open my box of pencils.

I was an art student back in school and did much painting, drawing and sketching, but when I started doing nails, the only things I've been drawing on at all are nails. People like my sister have constantly been urging me to draw more often, take out those paints and squish some pigments from time to time. Too busy, (or lazy) it think. I'm starting to feel like I've allowed my art education in Nafa and lasalle go to a complete waste. I love holding my brushes and my pencils, and my willow charcoal, but I've been completely neglecting these things i love to do. I'm starting to get back into it, I've started to go back to my beloved Art friend, hanging out there on my days off, soaking and basking in all the beautiful art materials they have to offer. Rows and rows of beautiful paints, pastels, markers in all colours on the spectrum. Stacks of lovely drawing paper and canvas in all textures, weight, primed, un-primed. It's almost, poetic. I love art stores.

You should visit an art store too if you can. It's therapeutic. For me at least it is.

Pasta cooked by my Italian.

OMG.

I had the best dinner ever today. Total grocery bill was $7.20 (packet of penne and fresh tomatoes including random stuff like cherry tomatoes i insisted on buying) Ok my point is, my smelly farty boyfriend cooked dinner for me! I think its the first time a boyfriend cooked anything for me. That's really sad and happy at the same time eh?

Anyway, HE COOKED FOR ME!! I just can't get over it.

It really initially was my idea to cook and eat at home, because we had some leftover gourmet sausages and fresh button mushrooms, so I thought, why not cook pasta? Then we went to mustafa to pick up some penne and pasta sauce, thinking it was going to be an easy quest, I just set off to the pasta section, looked around for a decent packet of penne and was about to walk off with one when he says, 'NOoo. We have to pick a good italian brand!' *rolls eyes* Then he picked his pack of packed pasta then I headed off to the pasta sauce section, thinking of just picking up a bottle of prego sauce, fast and easy. BUT NO. He says, 'Are you mad? I'm italian, we make our sauce from scratch, not eat bottled sauce.' Seriously? *Roll eyes to the back of my head* Then I nudge off the indians (it's mustafa lah) surrounding the tomato mountain to pick some ripe ones. Then proceeded to pay.

So I thought, urgh, I have to spend more time chopping tomatoes and making the sauce from scratch. Then Mr Picky says go and relax, i'll make the pasta.

WAH. first time leh. sorry i'm still reeling from it.

I didn't know whether to trust him in the kitchen so i progressively went from, you can or not? you sure you don't need help? you can handle it? you need me to do anything? to....oh ok, sure ah, don't need help ah. ok, i want mine spicy. haha. So tralala, hop and a skip to the room to chill maaaan. Spent about an hour holed up in the room watching youtube videos and laughing my ass off. Then he comes in and TAADAAAA. A dubious looking plate of pasta.

So we sat ourselves in front of the telly and started watching the movie OUTSOURCED and I took my first real bite of the pasta.

YUUUUUMMMMMMMMMMMMS!!!!!

Ok that's all I can say. Basically my boyfriend outdid himself by cooking for his girl and making pasta sauce from scratch. Impressive.

Yummiest pasta, funny movie, lotsa cuddles and hugs on the sofa = great date

The simplest and most enjoyable things in life often come for free, or at an extremely affordable price of $7.20.
Conclusion is, leave the pasta making to the Italians. They KNOW what they are doing. This particular italian does housework and adds softener to laundry, dilutes dishwashing liquid before use (claims he is saving the earth). Italian man-servant for hire anybody? Price negotiable. I'm his agent. :D hahahahahha.

w: I use professional salon curlers, the high heat settings enable the curls to last longer, also a good curling technique will help distribute the heat in your hair more evenly. Try to make the roots to the end as dry as possible, as moisture makes it really difficult to curl your hair nicely and humidity just straightens it even faster.

French acrylics with pretty blossoms

Hello everyone! I've finally changed the layout of my blog as well as the header. I've also added information about PNH on the sidebar so you can locate me even find my contact number there! I hope you like this blog revamp, nothing spectacular or special but i think simple enough to convey my message to all my readers!

I've also finally souped up my current laptop (installed PS cs3) so i can edit the nail photos and stuff! Previously was struggling with a non-mobile laptop with a cracked screen perpetually plugged into my tv monitor. So hence the lack of blog posts.

As you can see i've also settled in a new location (i believe very much more convenient location) in Central@Clarke Quay within the famed Jeric Salon. Apparently, coincidentally a lot of my clients actually visit that salon for their hair services as well only this time with me around, you girls can get hair and nails done at the same time!!! So i hope to see you there for an appointment soon!

I've also decided to blog a little more often, as i realized I've let my readers down by not blogging and posting beautiful nails often enough. I hope my words and works constantly inspire those who read my blog just as those blogs that i frequently read have inspired me. (Will add links to those inspirational blogs soon) I know how it feels when favourite bloggers of mine just don't post often enough, i often check their blog hoping anxiously that they have posted delectable pieces of work so I can devour them slowly and wait for the inspirational feeling to take effect on me. I post up stuff mainly of my work, and thoughts albeit a little random at times. I know i don't post enough, i promise to post up more works of my nails, my paintings (yes i paint recreationally), makeovers (yes i like to transform people too) my thoughts (much goes through my mind, i should record it down more often) I hope that in one way or another, whatever I post on this blog will inspire or affect you in the best way possible.

Anyway, here is a beautiful set of french acrylics with blossoms i added later to accentuate the simplicity of the nails. Done some time ago with sculptured white tips (was difficult as client had pretty short nail bed) with a shiny top coat and on top of it powder pink blooms.

Ok. This post is not exactly related to nails, I might post some nails photos up in between.
Rather random post actually. But first, let me get to my point. I was thinking of going back to having permed hair, after having straight hair for the past 2 years. Before that it has always been permed hair. My regulars from way back will know i've always been wearing my hair with a perm.

So here goes, one photo with straight hair, one curled (I maintain my hair with ease if its permed. So it looks like its tong-ed.)

There. Do answer my bimbotic question. I just needed to know if im a straight or curls kinda girl.

I've been re-watching Sex and the city episodes (in order, cuz i've been watching them rather randomly). I'm totally in love with the series. I really am. It'll be my favourite tv serial of ALL time. Rather than harp on the guy-girl issues (it is already well discussed in the show i wonder why people still comment on these issues)

As much as i've fallen in love with the portrayal of NYC (i've personally never been, i'd love to though) the brownstone houses,

the 5th ave sidewalks,

the hotdog stands,

Central park,

I'd absolutely relish the chance to go there for a holiday!! Take in the sights and the sounds. I've had a friend from NYC recently tell me that Seinfeld is alot more NY than SATC. Well, i've seen a few episodes of Seinfeld and they look rather similar to me. haha.

So anyways. I warned you, its a random post.

This one here was pretty hard to do, cuz her nail bed was pretty short. For those who'd prefer a soft look, this will be appropriate.

A gorgeous mix of star shaped spangle, with disco ball flakes and a silver glitter base! Too pretty! Great for those who'd like their nails loud and sparkly! Who doesn't?!?!

An intricate design i thought of for this client of mine who has extremely long extensions. Little roses embellished with crystals.

jw: Difference between infills and extensions are that infills are the maintenance for extensions. Extensions are a brand new set of nails, infills is to 'touch-up' the area that has grown. Yes, ribbons and roses are called embossed nail art and they are made of acrylic powder. The same powder used to make the extensions.

fen: french gel will cost 120, french acrylic will cost 110.

J: I've been in this line since i was 17, so that makes it almost 8 years that I've been doing nails.

Jen: yup, i will definitely heed your advice and place my contact somewhere people can see it. I just have to look for the space on my blog. haha

suying: it's hard for me to tell you what constitutes $50 worth of nail art, i usually charge per set. With $50, it is possible to do ribbons or flowers on selected nails.

Ribbons and frills that look like icing on a cake. I always hear clients tell me that 3D/embossed nail art looks like edible icing. Ain't that true?? This set was done a pretty long time ago, on a client who is absolutely nuts over Chanel. But then again, who isn't? =D

This set of nail art will set you back by approximately $140. It's a pain to do as there is plenty of detail on every single nail. But the results are more than satisfactory. =D

Peachy rose garden blooms!

I was working on a set of nails this afternoon and it turned out to be a super KAWAII set! Not this one i'm about to post but soon enough yea? It's been quite a while i've had clients asking for a bit of extreme nail art, as most of my clients prefer simple designs and bridal clients don't dare to try over the top. So i've been pretty stuck with doing mature, sophisticated flowery designs repetitively. But this set this afternoon has injected some challenge into my work day! Something super KAWAII at last. hehe. Nothing gives me greater pleasure than work satisfaction.

These nails are too pretty!! I mixed a combination of white and peachy pink roses alternating on every finger. The base colours are a silver pearl and gold multi-colour glitter gradation.

The result? A pretty sweet set of nails highly recommended for brides. :)

Embossed clear 3D ribbons encrusted with AB crystals! Nail base is lace inlays! This client has infilled the lace inlays once or twice before.. This is a new design on her infills! Totally bling right??

This set is suprisingly so hardy, that when my client came back for an infill, it was still all intact. Cool eh?

I'll be back to blog full force. Been too busy recently to update on new posts, been away and back from bintan, work work work, party party party! heehee. I'm sorry I haven't gotten down to replying my tags yet! So sorry!

Whole trail of pictures comin up! The weather has been so freakin' hot recently im getting a tan in my own shop! yarrrgh!!!

Anyways, in response to my last post, i'm really alright everyone! Thank you so much for your concern but I was just feeling really emo then.. and im better than ever now! I've been sad for a long time ever since I broke up with my ex-boyfriend of 4 years. I've met someone really really special and I think he feels the same way too :D Many of my clients/friends have been telling me how happy they are for me that i've found someone like him. To be honest, I've been through relationships, dated different people.. most of them belong in the category 'scum of the earth' I'm not going to be kind because there really are men out there who are just class A players. *claps for them* I'm sure many girls can relate to this. Of course there are the ladies who are out to play as well and know what these men are up to, but for those who don't and all they want is a loving, secure, relationship, well I can only say I pity their next victim falling in their dangerous hands. So keep your eyes wide open girls!!!

In my opinion, in this day and age, where women easily dominate everything from the house to office.. We are still vunerable and emotional. No amount of time can morph what has been genetically engineered in our systems. I personally don't believe that any woman can come out of a casual sexual relationship without feeling somehow emotionally scarred. We aren't men. We weren't engineered to sow our seeds or clink beer mugs and scratch our balls at a football game.We ARE still weak, emotional, attention-seeking, love-giving creatures. Girls, don't lose your femininity, it is unique to you. Getting your PHD, sitting as CEO of some company, running your own successful business, doesn't change the fact that at the end of the day we still want someone to run to, to cuddle in his arms, to baby-talk him, to go out on nice romantic dates, to cook for him (subjective ah, that's just me), someone to be there to catch your fall, to give you emotional support, to bring warmth to your nest at the end of your busy work day. Can't we all relate to that? We are simple beings pushed into a complicated and difficult society, I suppose we can't deny the fact that it's really difficult to co-exist with one another, much less find a partner you can connect completely with. So if you do, boys and girls alike, don't ever let go.

So anyways, back to other stuff now.. I recently went to play mahjong with Koji's friend and good god.. check this out..

This is scary. Not to be offensive but if i saw this poster at night.. oh man.

In the ferry, feeling excited (my first time to bintan lah) yet super sleepy as I only had 2-3 hours of sleep the night before.

I loved the beach =D But it was a little dark and cold when we got there, as it was raining (explains the jacket) and the sun wasn't out yet.. And I slept through the entire day while my boy trudged around in the room re-discovering bath soaps and the bar fridge, exclaiming his interesting finds to me when all I could afford was a muffled 'mmmhawwmmmhohhhhkayy' with my head buried into the pillow.

The sun came out at full force the next day so both of us got burnt.. heehee. I have a strange bikini tan line on my back in the shape of a ribbon cuz of my bikini strings! hahaha. No pictures of the next day, as much time was spent frolicking around in the water! Beach holidays are the best!

The easter bunnies my boy specially got his friend to bring in from Italy. I can't bear to eat them!

Went for our friend jamie's birthday party at the siloso beach resort sentosa! Best party of 09' so far! Hippity hip hop and a skip!

Focus.

I really need to focus on my work right now.

The heart is sore, but work'll cure it, right? It always does.

I read a book called the '50 rules of life', some of you may have read it. There is a part that mentions 'lucid living'. Basically speaking, it means being in the know, having control over your own life, being aware of everything going on around you, but never necessarily having to act on it.

I think this is something i have to learn to do. Lucid living. Always being in the know and cutting out all the drama in my life. Sometimes you experience the same thing one too many times, you get so tired of it your system just shuts down automatically. This is whats happening to me right now. I ever read this somewhere, 'do what you always do, and you'll get what you've always gotten.' I thought i tried something new, but I got the same results, can i disagree with this line?

Happens to some i guess, not me. I tried a different method, alas, recieving the same results. I need to be more discerning when it comes to picking dates, or potential boyfriends. I think all girls really need to be able to discern the 'jokers' from the 'good people' (as my friend harry says)

We need to protect ourselves.

Kitty nails! Red for the first time! It's usually pink i know. Hello kitty in her original red bow :D

Nails done on my best friend Koji, days back when she was still my client. So this was done a really long time ago.

I did some baking sometime back, a favour to my cousin to bake a cake for his girlfriend. See, I was supposed to teach him how to do it, but the imbecile decided the kitchen was too hot for him to handle. So Clara jie-jie had to do EVERYTHING. Thought these photos were quite nice.

Scrumptious looking strawberries. My favourite fruit. :)

And the assembled cake. Forgot to take a full picture of it :p But you get the idea. Awwww. I can smell the strawberries already. Yum :D

Super long kimono nails.

It puzzles me till this day how this client of mine can handle such long nails. I couldn't. I'd probably not do anything. haha. But it's her call!

I enjoyed working on the background, the black and gold contrast, with the intricate white plum flowers and leaves. This set'll set you back about 120 bucks for the art alone. :)

Still working on my shop blog (tough work), so you can all refer to it for location, pricings, information etc. It'll be VERY detailed i promise.

Who says you can't bling up short nails! These are acrylic overlays with bling blings, this strange client of mine doesn't like extensions, so she sticks with the short nails and plenty bling. hehe.

This set i did on a client who has NEVER done or heard of acrylic before. Quite adventurous for a first-timer eh? :)

Just simple oriental looking roses. Emboss art as usual.

Tags replied in a post later. I'm working overnight on loads of photos here. Finally moved both my computers to the shop (i'm computer-less at home) and i'm consolidating everything so i can upload for the pure pleasure of my readers hungry for pics of my work :D

Lace dual glitter inlays.

Lovely lace inlays. I put 2 types of glitter powder to enhance the design so it doesn't look too 'sticker-ish'. One pink glitter with clear powder and one translucent whitish glitter powder. Lovely effect. :)

I feel like i'm a headless chicken with all the things piling up to do, which i haven't done. Gosh! I need a break now!

Which i'm getting. hehe. will be away from 10th to 12th short trip to bkk with my family.

Chinese new year slots are seriously filling up. So if you haven't gotten an appointment, the week leading up to cny is already full. :( Reminder that CNY surcharges are $10/basic service. Surcharge starts from the 13th of january. (nail art is not considered a basic service.)

I realise it's almost been a month since i blogged. egads!

Sorry lah. I have been really busy hunting for a nice comfortable 'petit nail house-esque' shop and i found one! Prior to this, I think I gave everyone the impression I will be moving to Mohamed sultan rd, alas there has been some changes and i ain't movin' there no more. heh.

Instead, just to pre-empt all my clients and future clients, I will be moving to 21 Club street. (my new address is so chio. like Club 21. hahaha) I will be providing a map and the full address in my next post as well as pictures and directions on how to get to the place. All i have to say is, for those working within the tanjong pagar, city hall, raffles place, chinatown vicinity, YAY TO YOU! Super near! No more battling after work hours traffic to come down to holland village!

I love this new place. It's one of those boutique shops, like a mini duplex with a loft of its own. Lovely.

I'm sure all of you would love it too!

Purple bling! This photo just doesn't bring out the bling-ness enough.

This is another shot of the chevron lace tip design that i didn't post earlier. :)

I'm sure some of you out there are concerned with people stealing my works or images. I would really be pissed off if my images were used without my permission, but if it were fellow manicurists getting inspired by my designs and hence creating a similiar set, im perfectly fine with the idea if there were proper credits. Hopefully it is understood that this is the basic respect we show to each other in this profession, or any other profession for that matter. Claiming designs as your own is not right. Having clients who go to you with my designs/pictures asking you to create the same set and you, not crediting my work instead claiming it as your own, is NOT right. I'm sure you wouldn't like others to do the same to your original idea. =)

Whatever it is, thank you, caped crusaders who sniff such trouble out, i appreciate your effort to safeguard originality and proper crediting to the deserving artist. =)

I will continue to create beautiful nails for all to admire, desire and get inspired.

Recently went to raid the Club 21 bazaar with my girlfriends. Initially, I was really reluctant to go not because i was afraid i'd spend too much, but more because i was afraid it would be a waste of time. Thinking it would be one of those lousy sales with oversized clothing too big for a gorilla, or shoes too small for tinkerbell. but. alas..

I made this set some time back. It's lovely with silver sparkles and white leaves and flowers. Nails of a goddess. :)

Petit Nail Diary's new home!

Hi all my readers! I know I haven't been blogging for the longest time but this is what happened to my laptop.

R.I.P my loyal subject.

By this blogpost, my screen has been completely wiped out. :(

All my photos and editing programs are in this baby. Now that I've gotten myself a spanking new laptop to replace this one, I'm back to blog y'all!

As you can see, with blogger, im able to add links and all the fun shizzaz to my page, and most importantly, a tagboard! So any questions about my work, prices, address, contact etc, just fire away!

As I've spent an entire evening doing this blog up, I'm exhausted.

With a brand new blog, expect to see more random entries other than nail posts from me!

Some announcements to make

Petit Nail house will be moving...yet again.... *groans* No thanks to my landlord who insists on raising my already sky-high rent. I have found a funkier, hipper space (though smaller), and I'm sure our decorating skills won't cease to impress you! New address and moving dates will be updated soon.

I have a new addition to PNH, a new helper! Her name is Phyllis and she has just as big a passion for nails as I do! Will post up pics of her, and her work soon!
